Girls Inc High School Initiative

The Girls Inc High School Initiative is for girls finishing 8th grade through 12th grade and the transition after graduation.  Girls are from all socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.  Girls support and encourage each other to reach for and attain their dreams.  These girls continue the strong, smart and bold legacy.

Girls prepare to be financially independent adults by exploring career options, preparing for jobs and internships, applying for college and scholarships, even starting their own businesses, investing in the stock market and financial planning.  Girls also prepare to lead healthy lives by tackling topics from healthy stress relief, romantic relationships and friendships to fitness, cooking and arts exploration activities. Finally girls prepare for living on their own, from cooking in and setting up a dorm room to choosing an apartment and maintaining a vehicle.  These girls are prepared for life as they address every area of being a teen and an adult.

These girls take many field trips, meet amazing women doing incredible things in our community, have access to exclusive opportunities, and have caring women help them to apply life lessons and reach their goals such as math assistance, creating a resume, role-playing an interview, or exploring a new skill or talent.

Programming for the 2015-2016 school year begins on September 8 at Sarasota High and on October 21 at Sarasota Military Academy.  Shuttle available to Girls Inc building after school campus sessions and field trips.

Weekly group sessions at Sarasota High and Sarasota Military Academy.  Weekly group sessions at Booker High, Riverview High and Suncoast Polytechnical will be added during the 2015-2016 school year.  Field trips and individual sessions at Girls Inc included for girls from all schools.

Program registration fee is $25 or $10 for girls on free/reduced lunch.  Registration is valid through high school graduation.
